Mercedes-Benz E-Class (2009 - 2016)
E220 CDI ELEGANCE AT
Big, comfortable, practical and relatively econmical for its size.
I have run the E220 for 15 months now and it hasn't missed a beat.
On the move the car belies its size and I find the steering and chassis excellent. I live in a rural area and my daily commute includes about 25 miles of narrow twisty regional roads. At all times the car feels assured with enough power to deal with any eventualities.
Fuel consumption is impressive for such a big car although I accept that I do appear to achieve better figures than some reports. My best average for a tank of diesel was 52.7mpg and my worst was 33.1mpg.
The interior is very comfortable and can accommodate 4 adults with ease. My beige interior also contributes to giving the car a very airy feel. The front seats are particularly comfortable. In addition the multi adjustment on the steering wheel made it easy for my 6ft plus frame to achieve a good driving position. The dashboard layout is logical and all major controls fall easily to hand.
The boot is quiet big but the slightly narrow opening can make accommodating large or bulky items a bit tricky. That said it can swallow luggage and golf bags with ease.
Overall very impressive.
