Mercedes-Benz E-Class (2009 - 2016)

Quiet comfortable and effortless
Bought it on a whim trading in a c320. The engine sounded a little rough at first after the C320's V6 but has mellowed with the miles. The car is very insulative, quiet and comfortable over long journeys. Regular trips to the Rhone valley over 700 miles door to door are achieved with aplomb and no ached and pains for me or the passengers. For a large car it is surprisingly agile in traffic and easy to park. I was slightly disappointed that the sat nav was out of date form the moment I bought the car and the MB update is eyewateringly expensive. Fuel economy is excellent and on lesuirely trips ( sticking to speed limits on motorways) it can do 55+ mpg and occasionally top 60mpg. Tyre wear has been good, got 26k miles out of the rear ones and there is still plenty of tread on the front. The dealership have been really good, fixed a paintwork blemish noticed on delivery. In the last fortnight of the manufacturers warranty I noticed a slight rattle on one of the speakers and the driver's door electric window got early onset dementia and forgot where it should be when the window closes. Both problems fixed under the warranty. It has enough power to be reasonably quick, not being an AMG Sport variant it corners accurately but will roll a little if pushed. Everything works and works well.
