Mazda 6 (2008 - 2012)
2.2 diesel sport estate
Excellent car- you MUST change injector washers and oil regularly
+ The diesel sport is an excellent car- see below for MUST do maintenance.to avoid engine failure.Very torquey midrange . Driving position is low down and very comfortable . Very good specification including Bluetooth on the 2011 I drive. BOSE system is good / Centre speaker a bit too dominant. Look to get 45-50mpg. Self regenerating DPF Good space In rear seats and loading capacity is good. Cruise control and lane change warning is standard. This is an extremely good value car and is larger than Audi A4 and is A6 /EClass sized and a serious alternative.
- Dealer service excellent and servicing well priced
- This car gains oil due to unburnt DPF diesel going into sump- you MUST change oil at 10000 or sooner to ensure dilution.
-My engine failed at 110,000 miles due to the injector washer leak on cylinder 1 causing soot deposits blocking the oil filters. You must periodically spend the money on changing these washers. I was advised every 10000/20000
- if you have a flickering oil light get the washers changed and the oil filter cleaned out before total failure
-Rear calipers can seize - not big issue
-Mazda not good at recognising common faulty here - dealers should be insisting on washer change if not done - these are like cambelts to be honest( this has a chain)
- the DPF light will come on at 10000 miles - this is a reminder as DPF self generates. Getvrhe oil changed and the warning reset.
