Mazda 6 (2008 - 2012)
2.0 TS2 5dr Hatchback
No longer good
After 3 1/2 years the car has gone from a delight to a pain in the neck. As for driving dynamics, styling, specification etc of course its great, but at 131k miles there is now an engine fault and EML that even the dealer cant fix even after "trying" very expensive parts replacement, all 4 brake calipers have started to cease on a regular basis (latest is front caliper needs replacing) its had 2 batteries replaced, the alloy wheels are corroded and the boot release is (and has always been) broken. Further, the car has broken down on me twice within 8 months. Ive always serviced the car to book and the car has FSH when I bought it.
I don't expect a car to be fault free at this milage but to have such a litany of issues is too much for me.
Furthermore, because its Japanese, parts are very expensive and my local Mazda dealer is a joke. I've been severely scarred by my experience and no longer believe that japanese cars are more reliable since the two I have owed (also owned a 2000 reg Micra) have both had unsolvable engine issues. mt french horrid things have always been petulantly reliable or at least cheap to fix.
