Lexus IS (2013 - 2020)
300h Premier 223 CVT Auto 4dr Saloon
I feel exclusive
I wouldn't recommend this car because I want to feel exclusive driving mine. My other family members and friends have BMW, Audi, and Mercs, so I feel special with my car. I've only noticed four or five on the road in the three months of owner ship. I wouldn't buy a jacket that everyone else wears even if it is the best. Lexus have done a great job of being different and exclusive.
I didn't want to be siting in a car that sounds like a taxi. I am so relaxed and calm when the hybrid system glides into motion rather than shiver into life and rattles off into the distance. I wouldn't want to race a comfortable four door saloon car around unless you want to make your family sick and loose your licence. I race a two seater sports car on a track day when I want fun without traffic or speed cameras. Car journalist's opinions are writing to impress. I have noticed that when journalist gives a good rating on a car it gets a not so good rating from the owners and vice versa. Journalist put driving dynamics as their highest priority because of their short time in testing the car. But the Lexus brand are always the most refine, quite, most kit and satisfying to own. Then Journalist consider these as less important. Most people can not tell the difference how well a car drives on real world roads. But anyone would know how comfortable a car is in the real world.
I tested a brand new IS but brought a 12 month old car and it is just like new with £10k off the new price. Not a single squeak or rattle.
Most people don't seem to like the mouse type joystick to control the media system but I love it because when you get use to it, is quick jumping to different commands. The rotary system on other cars seems primitive and for less skilled users. Again Journalist don't have long enough time to develop the skill to operate a system so they say it is awkward.
I have the top of the rage so it has all the kit you need to look after and pamper you. I know a lot of modern cars have similar kit but I feel assured that the Lexus won't let me down as my previous car, a Lexus, has never let me down in my 6 years of ownership. Didn't even need to change a light bulb.
Once the blue tooth has been set up, it connects straight away every time you get in. The sliding A/C control is unique and so cool.
This is a rare and special car and I like it this way. Let the others follow the crowd.
