Excellent all rounder

I purchased the ct200h 1.8s after a lengthy search for a practical hatchback. It was more the things it didn't have that made me decide on the lexus, namely the lack of :- a turbo, dpf, high pressure fuel pump, direct injection, starter motor, clutch, conventional auto-gearbox and the requirement of pig urine to make it go. I cannot agree with the findings of the so called expert motoring journalists regarding the noisy cvt gearbox, lacklustre performance and poor fuel consumption. The gearbox/power splitting device is an epicyclic device which contains less moving parts than a conventional gearbox so cannot be mechanically noisy. The performance is identical to all the auto-equipped rivals. The fuel economy is as good as you want it to be. Drive it quickly in sports mode and it will suffer, drive it sympathetically and you will be rewarded. The choice is yours. All these points, coupled with the excellent back-up of the Lexus organisation, make the ct200 an excellent buy for people wanting something other than the mainstream offerings. Agreed, it's no hot hatch, it's not supposed to be but it's a brilliant solidly built all rounder.
