Overall reliability

Impressively equipped and stylish car, something a bit different.

The first thing I would say is that the 1st edition is the one to have, the contrasting roof and interior trims/stitching really lifts the whole car. A standard 2 spec is a bit dreary. It is important to note some very premium touches, all the stitching on the steering wheel, seats, gear lever and handbrake are colour matched to the contrast colour, a lovely touch that would be an expensive option in a Porsche or something. Driving position is lower than in some other cars of this type, I happen to like that others may not. The 1.0 turbo is a nice engine, a bit noisy perhaps but plenty of torque which makes the very low first gear seem a bit redundant but thats just a matter of getting used to it. A major benefit was seen by reducing the tyre pressures slightly from what is recommended and is always geared to fuel economy. A slight reduction improved the ride noticeably and gave the steering a bit more 'feel'. Tyres a good 55 profile but are XL rated Continentals which are a bit stiff anyway. The braking system is superb, the clutch light and smooth and it has a fantastic gearshift. Mechanical but not notchy. The major thing about this spec level is that it basically has everything, read the full safety specs but to see blind spot monitoring was superb, moreover the system works flawlessly along with rear cross traffic alert being handy in carparks. Heated seats and steering wheel are handy and the infotainment system is a model of clarity and ease. We also have a 2018 Mini and the system in the Kia is far superior in every way and even sounds better too. Apple CarPlay standard. Average is 37mpg currently, not amazing but engine is still wearing in so could improve? We bought it with 4000 miles on it for an exceptional price with the major benefit of 6.5 years warranty remaining. All in all we love it, the control weights feel excellent with everything operating solidly and smoothly, silent windscreen wipers are always good! Auto high beam works just as well as in a Mercedes. If I was being picky I would say that the mirrors not folding when the car is locked is a touch frustrating and the fuel cap release on the floor is dated but thats all I can really pick fault with, great car and next to our neighbours Ford Ecosport it just looks so much better.
