Kia Pro_cee'd (2013 - 2018)
1.6 T-GDi 201bhp GT Tech 3dr Hatchback
Nothing gets close to it for the money- NOTHING!!
Terrific to look at, comfortable to sit in, fun to drive, reasonably practical, attracts tons of attention (of the right sort you understand) whilst at the same time affording you a degree of anonymity.
I paid just £13 grand privately for a 2 year old Pro'Ceed GT Tech with 13K on the clock with 5 years warranty remaining. Doubled the mileage in a year of ownership averaging 36 to 38 mpg with mixed driving which i think is pretty good if not outstanding.
The seats are really comfortable and supportive as I regularly sit for 4 hours in the car commuting to my office with no ill effects.
It's a bit of a Q car in my estimation as a lot of people are really surprised how quick it can be. Ok so a really enthusiastically driven hot hatch from the more predictable stables will out punch the Kia but only by a little on the open road and wringing the Kia's neck isn't the right way to drive the car anyway. Effortless swift progress is its trump card.
I love it and so does my wife who trots round in a £70k Range Rover Sport.
Bug Bears - the forward A pillar obscures vision somewhat on the drivers side which can make tackling roundabouts a little tricky, the coupe doors are long and sleek so i have to push the seat all the way back to extricate myself in tight parking spaces. And finally the car could do with a touch more aural drama as the exhaust note is rather bland except when you roll the window down a touch so you can hear the gentle burble passers by can hear. The newer model has addressed this however - well done Kia.
