Kia Picanto (2011 - 2017)
Kia Picanto 2 1 litre 5-door
It is a huge disappointment.
A nice interior and a nice exterior do not make a good car. This is true of my 1.0 Picanto, which has been a huge disappointment because of its unpleasant driving characteristics and massive overshoot in fuel consumption. I would accept its lifeless engine and mediocre suspension if it came close to achieving its claimed 67 mpg combined consumption. Despite my highly restrained and defensive driving style, it struggles to achieve 50 mpg, and the engine responses do not remind me of any car I have previously driven. It is reasonably free of squeaks and rattles, although these do become apparent on poor road surfaces, and the all round disc brakes are good (although they bind when the car has been stationary overnight). I can only assume that the engine's deficiencies are due to it being a cut down 3-cylinder version of the excellent Kia/Hyundai 1.2 4-cylinder, rather than having been designed as an engine in its own right. My advice - do NOT buy one of these. I will never buy another Kia.
