Jaguar XF Sportbrake (2012 - 2015)
2.2 Diesel R-Sport 5dr Auto Estate
Good alrounder but some quality control issues headlights and satnav disappointing
I like this car, which I should for nearly £40k. Its comfortable, goes well and is thoughtfully designed. However, it had to go back to the dealer 6 times in the first 6 months with different faults and broke down in south of France with only 5000 miles on the clock when the turbo inlet trumpet fell off! The central locking did not lock the rear doors, rear body panel came loose, parking aid sensor defective, drivers door wouldn't latch without slamming security fob transponder faulty.
Disappointments are the headlights which are just inadequate for fast night driving and the satnav system which is just poor and difficult to use and lacks many features available on Tomtom for years. Also satnav updates are ridiculously expensive and infrequent.
The second 6 months have been much better and the faults seem to be down to poor quality control in the factory. Fuel consumption is higher than my 2002 Volvo v70 (no progress there then), speedometer is very optimistic (about 10%) there is no instantaneous mpg display option and the front seats do not fold down to carry long loads.
I do like the car and don't regret buying it, and it's not made in Germany!
