Jaguar XF (2008 - 2015)
Jaguar XF 3ltr Diesel Automatic
This is one excellent car to drive but maintenance is pricey
My previous cars include Nissans, Ford Sierra and modern Titanium Mondeos, Lexus 4ltr and 4.25 Ltr saloons, so that's what I'm comparing against.
In brief I love it. I love the little theatrical touches as the gear knob rises and the vents fold open. I love the engine tone, the acceleration that pushes you back into your seat, or is as gentle as the Vicars Sunday drive. The road holding and cornering are immaculate - even better that the Lexuses. It gives me great pleasure as I get in and every time I drive away.
BUT, maintenance is drastically expensive, even for a 2013 model. Replacing a parking sensor was over £300. Had to be done because the sensor failure also knocks out the other sensors and the rear camera. Economy is not at all bad, even round town. I only wish it had been built as a hatchback, raising the whole of the back. Instead storage is deep, but not very tall.
Still, overall - brilliant. It even looks fast when it's parked...
