Jaguar XF (2008 - 2015)
3.0 Petrol Luxury 240
Excellent value for money family car which makes long journeys or the school run a joy
As a low-miles (10k/yr) user the Petrol ones were for me, despite the £485/yr VED.
2 years down the car continues to excel. The ride is good (base spec 17" wheels fitted, keeps the tyre cost down as well), the dash is a joy and night-time driving a pleasure. The cabin is a 'nice place to be'.
6 speed auto coupled with the 3L engine pulls well, rarely need to use the paddles to change gear. Boot is big enough to handle the gear for a weekend away with the family (wife & 2 kids under 5).
Downside of course is the running costs, but in summer and no-aircon on, at a steady ~75mph you can get 34mpg, but usually around 32mpg on a run. In winter around town reckon on ~21 - 23 mpg. Using Shell Nitro Power petrol does improve economy and the car pulls better. Servicing fixed costs and ignore the dealer if they tell you pads are worn, they've told me twice but there's plenty of material on them.
Only problem after 2 yrs ownership is failed door lock on one door, has to be manually operated.
