IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCE AND FUEL ECONOMY

I chose an F-Pace because I wanted more space then my previous Evoque. The D200 SE was the best compromise for price, performance and spec. and I'm very pleased with it. I'm delighted with the fuel economy, I expected about 38mpg in rural/town driving but I am easily achieving 42mpg with 45 plus mpg on motorway runs. Pull-away from rest is generally ok, but slow speed manouvering can be a bit jerky going from rest to slow backwards movement. Overtaking perfomance is more than adequate and the handling has a very nice "rear-wheel-drive" feel. Ride is excellent, with good absorbtion of road ripples and bumps even though the car has 20 inch wheels. Noise levels are generally good although road noise is noticeable on anything other than smooth tarmac, engine noise is well supressed and wind noise is neglible compared to tyre noise.

In addition to the very large boot, the seating position feels very spacious with my left knee well away from the centre console, and the seats are comfortable. Vision forwards is good and rearwards is better than expected, and better than the E-Pace which I have had in the past. The car is quite long, so you need to park carefully to avoid sticking the front or rear rear out of the space. The car is also quite wide but has good steering lock which aids neat parking.
Main complaints : no accessory power point in the boot and a weird shiny black plastic insert into the roof console, presumably where the sun glasses holder used to be. Also, under the bonnet there are no inner wings, and the wheelarch liners don't fit snugly against the wings so you can see gaps through to the road - looks a bit low-rent on such an expensive car.
