Superb value for money compared to “ prestige” alternatives.

I’ve had the Mondeo Estate for nearly 3 years now and it has been pretty much faultless. It’s done a mixture of short daily commutes (10 miles), and long family trips to France fully loaded with camping gear, roof box, bike rack etc. Taken it all in it’s stride - even with with the 150 engine. So presumably the 180 engine would have been even better.

Exterior looks are very smart, and inside, while admittedly maybe not up there with the plushness if the prestige brands, it’s certainly still high-end. Reviews often talk about the “quality of some of the plastics” compared to the German rivals, personally I don’t see the need to pay an extra £10-15k for some nicer plastic and a different badge on the back. Anyway, anyone whoever gets in the car for a lift usually comments “nice car”, somewhat taken aback but just how good it is.

On the road it’s a great drive. Quiet, smooth, effortless. Fuel economy seems ok, not that I really check it that closely. Service every 2 years / 20k miles, inexpensive.

So as a practical, affordable, well equipped good-looking family car that won’t let you down, you won’t go far wrong with a Mondeo Estate.
