Ford Mondeo (2015 - 2021)
180ps 2.0 Diesel Titanium 5dr X Pack
Great Motorway Cruiser
So after 3 years of owning, and 50,000 miles (65% / 35% Motorway / Normal roads) the highlights are as follows:
Pro's:
- Quick, Comfortable, Spacious, Massive Boot, Quiet inside cabin and lots of toys (Nav, Voice Control everything, USB, Cruise, Self Park, Ambient lighting, Park sensors front & rear, LED's), the list goes on.
- very economical on motorway, average with mixed driving. Drive it like you stole it and it will hurt the mpg, what car doesn't!
- Good ride even on 19's.
- Good looking Saloon
Con's
- Boot struts not up-to job, boot wont self open (Dealer says known fault on cars with ford rear spoiler (mine has one!). Irrelevant if you don't have spoiler.
- Eats brake discs for breakfast even with light foot. Had new rears at 18 months and at 3 years!
- Electrics can be troublesome. I've experienced: Power mirrors folding when trying to reposition mirrors when driving, and no I haven't been pressing the wrong button!
- Park sensor issues (one occasionally errors after its rained, problem stops when the car has been run for a while).
- Sat Nav is useless, takes you the long way every time (not a setting issue, its just r******). When you enter a postcode the screen defaults to start with numbers, everytime! In the UK postcodes always start with letters not numbers - infuriating). Doesn't like Toll roads even if you say 'DONT avoid Toll roads!)
- Infotainment System. Does everything you want (apart from Apple carplay/android auto) but its a bit clunky and not the best.
- Vehicle proximity sensors don't like HGV's and occasionally freak out if the car/van next to you is on the phone (can only assume Bluetooth interference).
- Battery failed after 3 years 6 months. Poor by todays standards. £200 to replace.
Would I have another?? Maybe. Probably more yes than no. Wouldn't buy new (too expensive for a Ford), under warranty yes, parts can be expensive.
