Ford Kuga (2013 - 2020)
2.0TDCi 180 Titanium Powershift AWD 5dr
Lovely to drive, comfortable but POOR economy
Having owned a 2008 Honda CRV for a number of years, we were initially looking to replace it with a more recent model, but after test driving a couple (2016 plates) found them uninspiring and boring to drive.
After trying a couple of other makes, we test drove a 2.0 TDCi Kuga (2014) plate and really liked the drive, the comfort and look of the car.
We eventually found a 68 plate Titanium AWD model (4 years old) and again were really impressed with the drive, comfort etc - so handed over the reddies and away we go ....
So, after having it for 4 months, still really pleased with the ride, handling and comfort and when it needs to, it really flies !
One of the reasons for buying it was after coming from a petrol Honda CRV that struggled to get much more than 20 mpg around town, we opted for a hopefully more efficient diesel - well, Ford sold us a pup here as they stated MPG of 40+ .... around town we're lucky to get just over 30 MPG - on the motorway between 35 & 40 MPG at a push.
To say we're disappointed with that is a huge understatement - I though diesels were meant to be FAR more fuel efficient ? Somebody clearly hasn't told Mr FORD this !!
It's a shame, because in all other aspects it's a great car.
Would I buy another or recommend ? Absolutely NOT simply because of this poor fuel economy .... maybe we should have bought the CRV or a TUCSON that easily return around the 50 MPG mark .... hey ho !
