Ford Ka (2008 - 2016)
1.2 studio
Good runner, easy to handle and robust body but.....
This car has let me down big time. I bought a brand new ford KA in 2010 after having used ford cars for many years. Within a short period of time an awful smell of petrol occured in the cabin of the vehicle and had to go in for a repair - poor quality part in the first place. Part of the exhaust deteriorated and required replacing at 150 plus pounds and very recent - one month after the warrenty expired - an dreadful vibrating/ knocking sound was heard under the vehicle at the front passenger side. This noise was particularly prevelant over humps and bumps no matter how small. The ford garage found a loose drive shaft into the gear box - £1000 repair estimate as a bearing had seized inside causing damage to the casing around the gear box. New gear box required. This is no fault of my own, not due to wear and tear and not due to damage. After negotiations with the ford garage repair occured where they stumped up the labour bill and i paid for the parts. I was fully assured that the noise had gone. Today i got the car back and the noise is still there in full force! The gear box problem is obviously not to do with the noise. There was 2 problems - one the gear box that i didnt know about until it was looked at (how many people have KA's now with this same problem that they are unaware of) and the vibrating . rattle sound that is still undiagnoed. I now want rid of the car and away from Ford. The Ford UK customer service were absolutley poor in helping and they thought ringing with a 'courtesy calls' was sufficient to help customers!
