Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008)
Zetec S 1.6 TDCi 3dr Hatchback
It does so much right, just a few niggles wrong, a really good car.
£30 tax. Usually 60mpg/tank, never got below 50. Goes like the clappers. Hoot to drive. Can take 4 passengers with luggage. Cheap spares. Not expensive to buy. What more could you ask for?
It's a very very good package, blending economy with performance and a real joy to drive. The engine is a gem now that it has loosened up: can be extremely quite (esp with BP ultimate), almost petrol-like, yet put your foot down and it shifts. Gets 65+ mpg on a run if sensible, never been below 50mpg when shifting. The cockpit is nice, not cheapo, being taken out of the mondeo, seats are good. And I think it looks good, without excessive styling. Plenty of dealers to choose from.
The be the perfect car, it would have more places to put stuff, stowage trays and boxes etc, it would have a 6th gear and cruise control for long M'way hauls - the revs get high if you are shifting, and it would have the 110BHP version of the 1.6 duratorq. But that's about it.
