Ford C-MAX (2003 - 2010)
Ghia 1.6 TDCi (DPF) 5dr Auto People Carrier
Dangerous car with very expensive repairs
I bought this car just over 3 months ago with 45,000 mile on the clock. While I was driving along a busy road with my 3 children the car just stopped still and would not move. Transmission malfunction came up on the dashboard. I called the AA who where unable to move the car so had it towed to the nearest garage as my local Ford garage could not look at it for 3 weeks. They said the gearbox had been shot to pieces and a reconditioned one costs £2500. Had no choice but to pay for replacement. Contacted Ford several times who said it was out of warranty so nothing could be done. Just over a year later the car broke down again with the same problem tried to get it towed to local Ford garage but unable to book it in for 3 weeks again. So had to get it towed back to the garage where I had the reconditioned gearbox put in,who said gearbox had gone again. Contacted Ford several times again until they sent me a letter asking me to take it to my local Ford garage for an inspection. I booked it in about 3 weeks later when they had the next appointment, when I got the car there they said the car was not booked in so could not look at it until the next week. The following week I get a call to say my car is ready to collect. When I get to the garage they asked me for £50 inspection fee the car is not fixed and I am told to take it back to the garage where I got the gearbox from. I know the gearbox is faulty and I am not paying Ford to tell me that, I thought the inspection would have been done properly taking everything to account. I have no choice now but to go to the small claims court as no one is accepting liability. I have contacted watchdog.
