DS 5 (2012 - 2018)
150 diesel 6sp manual prestige.
Luxurious, looks good, comfortable.
My first Citroen after always avoiding them, my Dad always bought them and his last 2, an 02 Xsara Picasso, then 11 C3 Picasso were very solid cars so assumed the DS series would be at least as good, they're not, well the 5 isn't anyway. Some poor build issues with out of line panels and rear n/s light, ceiling console looks good but brittle plastic rattles and creaks. Suspension is awful, in fact downright dangerous if getting a bit of speed up on country roads, the car gets thrown about all over the place, why wasn't the excellent Citroen hydraulic suspension available?? Actually not my first Citroen after all, I bought an 89 BX 14E from my Dad and that suspension was the best thing about it!! DS5 HDI150 Blue has poor fuel consumption, only about 39.5mpg, much less than I was lead to believe, but it's quite powerful torque wise. Very poor reversing lights make night time reversing quite tricky, despite rear camera, which is great in day as are the parking sensors. It's a comfortable car with a very nice luxurious cabin and instrumentation and I think a nice looking car too. Bought it as approved used Citroen with 25000+ miles and 2 years old, in first 15 months 3 different keyless door handle sensors failed and whole handle has to be replaced, and painted first, they don't come ready coloured, a very expensive fix but all were done on warranty by the same excellent Citroen dealer I bought it from so just a nuisance. Overall I like it, I've never had a perfect car as after all there isn't and never will be one.
