DS 5 (2012 - 2018)
2.0l DStyle
A strange coice but a year on I'm still delighted
As per the summing up sentence, the DS5 was a strange choice but after having had a Ford Kuga for 3 years and 100k miles I fancied a change. The problem was simply too much choice so I decided I wanted something a bit different. I'd never have considered a Citroen but having seen a few on the M40 was tempted into my local dealer.
Had a test drive in one without the glass roof and a black interior and almost changed my mind, while it was very comfy, felt well built etc it was also too dark.
So I went for the DStyle with leather, pale cream and white pearlescent paint - looks fantastic in my opinion and the leather seats with electric adjustment and massage are really comfortable so worth the upgrade.
I've now done 24k miles and despite all the warnings from the many profits of doom they have been faultless miles - in comfort, reasonable economy, 44mpg, a number of non stop trips from Winchester to Edinburgh very comfortably.
I miss the DAB radio in the Ford, just haven't got round to having something put in the DS yet. The Sat Nav really should take post codes but is very good apart from that, especially POI and traffic info functions.
The ride is a bit harsh but handling is great especially on faster roads, it drives me mad when people moan about Citroen not making soft riding cars anymore - people weren't buying them!!
Not that loads are buying DS5's either, in some ways I'm pleased as it maintains the exclusivity and people still look at the DS. I came back to it one night and a group of kids were taking photo's, other people have talked to me in car parks about the DS which never happens with normal cars.
The interior is lovely, well put together, lovely quality leather and different, everyone who has been in it loves it. Ergonomically it's not great but you get used to it.
Overall fantastic.
