Dacia Logan MCV (2013 - 2019)
Dacia Logan 1.5 diesel Laureate Estate
Going Ok after three years
Two and a half years have passed since writing a review for this car in March 2014. The Logan now has >30K miles on the meter, and has been around the UK and Ireland as well as clocking up city miles.
My overall view of it is still that it's great value for money and very practical. The 1.5 Renault diesel engine is very good, the economy has been around 60mpg even with town driving (I'm light footed), and the load capacity is excellent. The driving experience is ok - but no better.
Unlike some of the reviewers, I think the higher spec models make good sense. On the Laureate you get user-friendly cruise control, rear speakers, and slightly better trim all of which I use and/or appreciate.
Of course there are some annoying downsides: in no particular order these are
* too much road noise
* poor paint work
* Eco drive function that stifles over-taking
* seats that provide too little support for my 12 stone frame
* plasticky parts that aren't as robust as I would like.
If I spent every day in this car I wouldn't be keeping it after three years, but as I'm only using it a few times a week with the occasional longer journey, I'm happier to use the money saved so that I can travel by more comfortable means with lower carbon emissions ... such taking as the train.
