Dacia Duster (2012 - 2018)
1.5 dCi 110 Laureate 4x2 5dr SUV
Faultless After 3 years
This is a proper old school comfy Renault with soft suspension and a gutsy and economical engine. It reminds me of our 1993 Renault Espace which was a great ride. We get 52 mpg in mixed driving. Two bits of advice - if you steer clear of the Indian built (up to 2013) cars the bodywork is fine. Avoid the Eco button, this makes the car sluggish pulling out onto a fast road. After 36 months and 36K we have had no issues at all, only matched by two of my 12 new cars over the years and they were both Hondas. Read the manual, give it a long run every couple of weeks and follow the servicing schedule. Personally I would like another inch of travel in the driver's seat, but I'm 6' 2. The elevated driving position, great ground clearance and fitted mud & snow tyres make it a great car for off road byways and green lanes, but if you want to do that in all weathers the 4x4 will be much better. Ridiculous value for money and I would buy another.
