2lt Petrol Highline

Extremely Reliable - 2 lt petrol engine is though not a mountain goat.

This is the second convertible E93 we have owned. The first one had one fault, this being a faulty engine sensor that effected a number of 2lt petrol owners 3 years ago, replaced and no further problems. The current vehicle has not needed to go back to the dealers and has yet to need a service at 16,000 miles as sensors work out your driving style and when it needs to go in (still shows 6,000 miles to go) but a service pack may be a good idea as just a simple oil change does not come cheap at BMW prices.

With the roof up it slips past without screaming I am really a convertible but once the roof is down it becomes a head turner. This car ate up the miles on a trip to the Alps and with the roof down it then came into it's own except the smaller engine is not the perfect match for long alpine passes if you have a light foot like myself, trade off being getting over 40 mph at 70 on motorways. In Germany opening up to 125 mph for a while was no issue, perfectly safe and quite in respect of wind noise but run flat tyres do make a difference to tyre rumble compared to cars on normal rubber.

Currently we are considering trading it for the 2lt diesel to get the power to the wheels for our style of driving without having to red line (more about me than the car as the dealer did say the car needs plenty of revs to get the best out of it).

Shop around as to change prices differ tremendously between dealers.
