BMW 3 Series Convertible (2007 - 2012)
335i SE 2dr Convertible
Magnificent!
First BMW for me in 40 years of fairly mundane vehicles (apart from a couple of Volvo T5's) and it's all I'd imagined it could be. The hard top mechanism is an engineering delight and the car is a regular coupe with it up. Comfort and interior is more than adequate, especially on a long run, and with only 2 people, the wind deflector in place and top down it's a joy to drive. The £7000 of added extras in the car were well spent by the original owner, the Dakota leather being the best. The note from the 6 cylinder engine is as good as any mass produced car and is especially noticeable on country roads. No real problems apart from blocked drainage holes leading to the rear wheel arches but that was easily overcome. The mpg was surprisingly good for a 306 bhp vehicle, regularly getting around 35 mpg over distance. The only bugbear for me was cost of road fund licence, which, at £500 annually, is tough to take, but hey, that's life and the government have to get their reward. Overall a magnificent car that I wish I had considered years ago.
