Overall reliability

A quality luxurious and economical car full of recent technology.

Ordered this car as a factory build with most of the available options making it quite expensive and unfortunately pushing it into the premium VED bracket of £440 per year for 5 years after the first year. I did however manage to negotiate a substantial discount to more than cover this unfortunate penalty.

The car drives perfectly and is extremely comfortable, relaxing and easy to drive with all the additional technologies on board. The changeover from electric to petrol engine is seamless and can only be noticed by the rev counter rising to show that the engine is running. Most of my motoring is short journeys these days, ie to work, shops and other local excursions so mainly on electric, hence the 101.65 average mpg. Advantage of the hybrid would be reduced for greater distance driving but the car is still very economical on engine too. I plug the car in to charge it every time I'm home, so the battery is always full ready for use. Overall I'm very pleased and the car performs for my use exactly as I had planned it would but type of use is a major consideration before investing in a PHEV. Of almost 7k miles driven so far, 4.5k have been electrically powered.

Just a couple of niggles - tailgate powered operation is somewhat erratic and can occasionally try to close on your head or open on it's own which is a major security issue, and visibility is not good from the driving seat to the sides at junctions due to the large windscreen pillars which can easily obscure view of approaching vehicles from the sides unless extreme care is taken to move your head and look very carefully.
