Audi A7 Sportback (2011 - 2018)
3.0Tdi 218 Ultra
Not what I had hoped
Having driven BMW's for 6 years and having previously owned 4 Audi's, I was really looking forward to my new A7. It has many things going for it (great looks, practical, comfy, smooth, well planted, good infotainment generally, well made, great adaptive LED lights, head up display) to name some, but also some things which are very disappointing in a £55k car. Firstly, the Bose stereo (£1000 upgrade) is in my mind absolutely terrible. Loud but lacking in mid range and detail. My previous 5 series Pro upgrade was miles better and cheaper. You cannot save CD music to the jukebox for copyright reasons....I'm not quite sure what the point in a jukebox is then!? The CO2 and mpg figures suggested it would be better than my 520d, but in reality its at least 15% worse. Average 38-41 in day to day use and 46-50 on a run being careful. The system for filling up with AdBlue is a farce frankly in a £55k car. Tyre wear is looking like it might be a worry too on the front. I am guessing they are about 60-70% worn on the front after 9000 miles of generally steady driving. In summary, I do not especially look forward to getting in and driving this car, although its a good companion on a long motorway drive. Given the choice again I would not get the same car. Has some very good qualities, but on balance the downsides spoil the enjoyment for me and the economy is a big disappointment.
