Audi A4 Avant (2015 on)
2.0 TDI Quattro 190 S Line S tronic 5dr Estate
Disappointing. Could be a great car, but let down by
I bought this car expecting it to be the most refined car I’ve ever had. All reviews point out the refinement of this car.
And indeed in many areas it is: the engine is very refined, powerful and very economical. The interior is the best I’ve experinced, fantastic design and ergonomy, as well as quality of materials and execution. Infotainment system is fast, modern and easy to use - although things change so fast here... Even the S-tronic gearbox , which is sometimes criticized for it’s behaviour at low speed is more than decent.
BUT. The driving experience is completely spoiled by a very intrusive noise/bang made by the rear diffrential when I press , or even lift, my foot of the throttle. It’s like I have a subwoofer in the back, and it activates each time press the throttle. It may not sound like much but it gets very anoying. Went to the dealer and long story short the car is in “perfect condition” and this phenomenon is “normal”. Indeed, they gave me a different car to compare, and it had the very same issue, ergo, problem solved , this is not an issue for Audi. Extremely disappointing.
A second bothering thing is the noisy rear suspension which makes a (almost similar) noise that reverberates in the body of the car. Not as anoying as the first issue, but still , not the level of refinment one would expect at this level.
In conclusion, a car that could have been excellent, as it has a few very strong points, but the overall experince is ruined for me by the above mentioned issue.
