Range Rover most targeted brand by car thieves
Range Rover is the most popular brand among car thieves in the UK according to new research by Confused.com.
With car theft on the rise in the UK, Confused.com analysed data from the DVSA to identify the the most frequently stolen cars in the country, as well as the regions with the highest rates of theft.
Range Rover models account for six of the 10 most targetted cars with the Range Rover Velar R-Dynamic HSE D180 is the most commonly stolen car in the UK.
More than 130,000 cars were stolen in the past year alone, with thieves using ever more sophisticated and advanced methods to get round new car security systems.

Lexus models also appear prominently in the list, with the RX 450h being targeted while the ever-popular Ford Fiesta, particularly the Zetec S Red and Black Editions, remains a favourite among thieves.
Land Rover is the most commonly stolen brand in the UK with Mercedes-Benz close behind. BMW and Audi also make their presence felt in the top five. At the other end of the spectrum, Skoda vehicles are the least likely to be stolen among the major brands.
Delving deeper into the analysis, the data reveals that black is the most stolen color of cars, with nearly 18,000 black vehicles stolen in the past year.
The analysis also highlights regional variations in car theft rates. People residing in the Welsh area of Dyfed-Powys can breathe a sigh of relief as they have the lowest rate of vehicle theft. Conversely, drivers in the West Midlands face the highest risk.
