The new Peugeot 2008 and e-2008 ranges have been refreshed for 2023. The mid-life facelift follows best-selling success for the small SUV, which was originally launched in 2019. The Peugeot 2008 and e-2008 have regularly been among the top three best-selling small SUVs in Europe.
The new Peugeot 2008 and e-2008 will provide a fresh challenge to other popular small SUVs such as the Ford Puma and Toyota Yaris Cross.
The new Peugeot 2008 and e-2008 now sport the new Peugeot shield, which is part of the French brand’s desire to move upmarket. The facelifted models feature premium styling details and enhanced equipment to reflect this, while the electric Peugeot e-2008 has an enhanced EV range, too.

2023 Peugeot 2008 and e-2008 styling, interior and technology
The new Peugeot 2008 and e-2008 has sharper styling that the French firm says gives it a more upmarket appearance. The idea is to make it look more like a premium SUV. The centrepiece is the new Peugeot shield logo, located within a new, wider front end. It looks much bolder and more assertive.
The revised grille of the new Peugeot 2008 and e-2008 now has a lateral pattern that connects to the headlights. On regular Active models, this is gloss black. On Allure and GT variants, the vertical pattern is the same colour as the bodywork.
The new Peugeot 2008 and e-2008 have a revised LED daytime running light (DRL) signature. The three vertical light claws are integrated into the gloss black inserts on the bumper. Range-topping GT models also have full LED headlights with three light modules, visually setting them apart from other variants.
At the rear of the new Peugeot 2008 and e-2008, the three-claw light signature features again in the LED tail lamps. This has been redesigned, with the rear nights now made up of three superimposed horizontal double slats. Designers says this visually widens the stance of the new Peugeot 2008 and e-2008. Reversing lights and indicators are also now LEDs.
Other detail updates include a new typeface for the front, side and rear badges of the new Peugeot 2008 and e-2008. There is now a ‘Peugeot’ monogram script running the full width of the bootlid. There is a choice of six body colours: Selenium Grey, Cumulus Grey, Okenite White, Nera Black, Elixir Red and Vertigo Blue. They all have gloss black door mirrors; GT models have a black bi-tone roof.
The new Peugeot 2008 and e-2008 range offers a bold choice of new alloy wheel designs, from 16-inches to 18-inches. Peugeot says they all have a ‘disruptive’ design, similar to the wheels first seen on the new Peugeot 408.
Inside, all new Peugeot 2008 and e-2008 now come with a 10.0-inch central infotainment touchscreen as standard. Peugeot has kept the row of piano keys below the central screen, giving quick access to key functions. The i-Cockpit instrument display has been updated too, with a new design, configurable colours and information, plus a 3D display on GT models.
The new Peugeot 2008 and e-2008’s compact steering wheel features the new Peugeot logo, and there’s now an additional GT badge on the lower section for the range-topping variant. Peugeot says all the seat fabrics have been updated too, including a new Alcantara option for GT versions.
New Peugeot 2008 and e-2008 Allure and GT versions have the Peugeot i-Connect infotainment system. This comes with wireless smartphone mirroring with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. There is an ‘OK Peugeot’ voice assistant too, while the optional Peugeot i-Connect Advanced option brings TomTom connected sat nav.
2023 Peugeot 2008 and e-2008 engines, performance, fuel economy and range
The new Peugeot 2008 continues to be offered with the popular 1.2-litre three-cylinder PureTech petrol engine. There is a 100ps version with a six speed manual gearbox, which has a redesigned gearknob. The PureTech 130 has an EAT8 eight-speed automatic option alongside the regular manual.
The new Peugeot 2008 is not available with a diesel engine.
In 2023, the new Peugeot 2008 will also be available with a 48v hybrid powertrain. This will combine an updated 136ps 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine with a six-speed DCT gearbox and integrated electric motor. The mild hybrid system promises 15% better fuel consumption, and, in urban driving, the potential to operate for more than half the time in engine-off electric mode.
The new Peugeot e-2008 full electric variant has been significantly updated for 2023. It now has a larger 54kWh battery and a new electric motor. This boosts power by 18% to 156ps – and takes the EV range up from 214 miles to a healthy 252 miles.
The new Peugeot e-2008 has a single-phase 7.4kW charger as standard, and an 11kW three-phase charger as an option. It can be rapid-charged from 0-80% using a 100kW DC charger, or in 7 hours 30 minutes via the standard 7.4kW charger.
The MyPeugeot smartphone app has also been updated. It can now predict the level of charge remaining at the end of a journey. It allows drivers to precondition the cabin and manage charging remotely through their device, too.
