Volkswagen introduces new Golf Match
Volkswagen has introduced a new Match model to the Golf range, replacing the SE trim. The return of the familiar name also sees £1600 of extra equipment added with prices only increasing by £300 over the outgoing car, making it impressive value for money. As a result, prices start at £17,730 for the 1.4 TSI three-door.
The new Golf Match gets extras including unique 16-inch 'Croft' alloy wheels, a leather multifunction steering wheel, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth, front and rear parking sensors and a touchscreen stereo with a six-disc CD autochanger.
This is on top the existing SE's specification which includes ESP stability control, seven airbags, Climatic air conditioning, an alarm, cruise control and a multi-device interface for connectivity to iPods or MP3 players.
The built-in Bluetooth and multifunction steering wheel ensure making and taking a call on the move is easy and safe. The fully integrated system makes use of the five-inch touchscreen to display information at the press of a button, while its hands-free compatibility mean it can be twinned with more phones than before, including Blackberry and iPhone.
The new Match model, which is available to order now, comes with the same engines as the outgoing SE trim. So the line-up consists of a 1.4-litre TSI petrol with 122bhp, a 1.6-litre TDI 105bhp or a 2.0-litre TDI with 140bhp. Both the petrol and the 1.6-litre TDI are offered with Volkswagen's seven-speed DSG gearbox, while the 2.0-litre TDI can be specified with the six-speed DSG.
A BlueMotion Technology Match model is also available with the 1.6-litre TDI 105bhp returning an average of 68.9 mpg and emitting just 107g/km of CO2, meaning cheap car tax.
New Golf buyers can also choose the cost effective option of a three-year/30,000 mile £250 fixed price servicing deal which saves money as well as giving peace of mind against routine servicing costs.
