Paris Motor Show 2012: Ford shows EcoSport for Europe
Ford’s EcoSport model, a compact SUV similar to the Vauxhall Mokka and previously only sold in Brazil, will be available in Europe within 18 months. The EcoSport is aggressively styled, with a tall front grille, high up cab and slim headlights. The previous model has been sold in South America since 2003, but the model offered - and built - in Europe will be all-new.
Engines are likely to include the 1.0-litre and 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrols as well as TDCi diesels, but specific details aren’t currently available. What is confirmed is that it will be fitted with Ford’s new SYNC system, allowing for iPod connectivity and Bluetooth.
The EcoSport will be joined in Europe by two more SUVs - the Edge, which is currently sold in the USA, and an all-new Kuga. Prices for the EcoSport are unavailable, but chances are it will be on par with the Mokka, its closest rival, which starts at £16,995.
