Lexus debuts sub-100g/km Lexus IS
Lexus has debuted the IS300h at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show – and it has emissions from a congestion charge and VED- busting 99g/km. Power comes from a 2.5-litre full-hybrid powertrain, meaning 220PS and economy from 65.7mpg.
It’s worth noting that only the entry level SE specification falls under the 100g/km threshold, although the Luxury spec model isn’t exactly dirty. Its emissions are 103g/km while the most inefficient trim levels – F Sport and Premier – still only produce 109g/km.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a CVT gearbox and performance is reasonable – 0-62mph takes 8.3 seconds and top speed is 125mph. Keener drivers can set the car to Sport mode for a sharper throttle response, and there are Eco, Normal and EV modes too. The EV setting puts the car into all-electric mode, ideal for stop-start urban driving.
The IS300h, along with the rest of the new Lexus IS range, is available to order now, and first deliveries are expected in mid-July.
