New Fiat Panda to premiere at Frankfurt
Fiat will give a premiere the new Panda at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Set to go on sale in the UK in Spring 2012, the newcomer gets a softer look, improved interior quality and will be available with Fiat's TwinAir engine.
The new Panda is less boxy than before and has more stylish design, with attractive, rounded off edges and an attractive interior, complete with a square steering wheel and square design details across the dashboard. The materials used have been improved and attention has been paid to ensuring the Panda works well not just in town but outside of it too.
Initially the Panda will be available with two variants of the 0.9-litre TwinAir engine – a naturally aspirated 65bhp version and a turbocharged model with 85bhp - both with engine start/stop to keep emissions down. There will also be a 1.2-litre 69bhp petrol, and eventually a 75bhp 1.3-litre diesel. Expect impressive CO2 and emissions figures from all of the engines.
Safety equipment and connectivity were priorities for the design team. Brake assist, Isofix attachment points, and anti-whiplash headrests are amongst the standard safety gear, and Blue&Me connectivity allows drivers to use their mobile phones and other devices via the car without taking their hands off the wheel.
