My mother bought a Corsa 1.4 2009 about a year ago, it is a 1.4 automatic which I believe is a 4 speed. The car has around 15K miles on it but the gearbox has issues. Sometimes the gearbox will just not move out of the Park position. It has been to a dealer whom suggested she give it more time for the electronics to do their stuff before putting into Drive. She did this and it was fine for a while but the fault then started to occur more often no matter how long she waited. Now sometimes when the car is put into gear it also will not move. These faults clear when the car the engine is stopped then re-started. I suggested that she gets rid of it before something major happens to the gearbox and if it is electrical how much would it cost for a dealer to find it as my experience of our local Vauxhall dealer has been poor to say the least. I just wondered if anybody had any experience of this model? And has any idea what might be causing the issue. Or is she better just cutting her losses and getting another car from a different manufacturer. Her previous car a Focus Mk 1 Auto which she gave to me is a way better car that has never had any issues with the gearbox. It seems that the more electronics they add the more troublesome they can be and the harder they are to fix.
