SEAT Altea XL - Three child Seats. Which Car. - Buzzbarr
I need a car that can fit three child Seats. I have a new baby due in June and two children who will be six and four. I need to fit two booster seats with backs and an isofix base for a maxi cosy baby seat. I tried to fit all of these into my Seat Altea xl and they won't fit.

I would like to buy a second hand Diesel car with low emissions. Maybe two or three years old. It's got to be reliable I don't want to be pumping money into it in two or three years time. Any recommendations would be most welcome.

If you can, lose the personal 'need' to have booster with a back for the 6 year old and you won't need to change the car.

Do you mean have the six year old on the booster without back or no booster seat at all. I think it is recommended to have the child in booster seat with back until she is 10 or 11 years old.

Just a booster seat. Lots of things are recommended, but sometimes its not practical. Our daughter has just been in just a booster seat for about a year, she is almost 7.

10 or 11? I had a booster seat until I was about 5 or 6. No need after that. I teach 11 year olds; some of them are as tall as I am!

I agree. Lose the seat back for the six year old. My daughter was deprived of hers at about 4 years old she was so tall.

Alternatively buy a small seven seat car so the oldest child gets to sit on their own in the very back and feels good about themselves. They can, by six years old, flip the seats etc, climb in the back and clip their own seatbelt. Look for a Mazda 5. Very reliable.

Funny how that whole "feels good about themselves" thing works. My daughter usually insists on riding in the front to prevent car sickness. However, this never seemed to be an issue when presented with the opportunity to use the 3rd row in the old Zafira....(!)

I always suspected that car sickness was invented by children wanting to sit in the front. I'm only bitter because I didn't think of it when I a bairn.
