VW Golf Match 1.6Tdi - Deal on new car - 35Ed
I bought a 6 month old Golf 6 months ago, the garage has contacted me offering a new Golf, same model/engine for same monthly payments, the balloon payment is a little higher (1500) and 2 extra monthly payments making the difference about 2K. They explain this because of a much lower interest rate of the loan.
I know there is a new model due in Jan 2013, is this the reason they are pushing this deal?

They are pushing it for the extra £2k, to move an extra unit of what will be an old model and to get a kick back for the finance.

You get £2k more debt.

Yes, in a word.

Tell them to contact you again in January with an equivalent deal on the new model. If not keep the one you've got.

Offer them £500 to do the deal. A 6 months younger car car with one owner from new will be worth most of that £2k difference at the end of the finance.

Err, which he will lose in the higher balloon payment?

The OP says or at least I read it as the total difference ie balloon plus monthly increase is £2,000 so I was suggesting he asks them to work it to £500 either with a ballon of just £500 more or the £500 spread across the monthly payments but with the original balloon.

Oh OK, fair point.

That would be a good deal!

Let me get this straight.

Your car is a year old and you have had it for six months. I will assume that you would not be even considering changing it, but for the dealer's offer arriving.

So, in effect, they want you to pay them the princely sum of two thousand pounds for the privilege of doing them a massive favour and taking off their hands an EOL model that they can't sell, they desperately want shot of and you have no need of.

I'd be telling 'em to get knotted.

Do you mean the balloon payment (at the end of the contact)is £100 higher or that the deposit is £1500 at the beginning? If it's the balloon payment, they aren't asking you for cash up front. and the deal is worth a look. If they want cash now, I can't see the point of your changing cars.
