Toyota Hilux - Tyre Sizing - Frank Haxton

Tyres on my Hilux are 205R16C 110/108 S; aspect ratio, viz;the figure normally shown as the second number after the tread width is not stated. How do I match snow chains to this sizeing specification and what does the C and the 110/108S represent ?Regards, Frank

Any tyre without an aspect ratio is automatically regarded as 80 or 82, the two being regarded as the same.

"C" stands for Commercial, ie extra load but there's no universal standard so it's irrelevant.

The 110/108 give the load index - 110 gives 1060kg per wheel and when multiplied by 2 MUST exceed the maximum axle load. The presence of "/108" indicates that the tyre maximum load is downrated to 1000kg when used in a twin rear wheel application, eg some Transit-type trucks.

"S" is the speed rating, in this case 112mph which should be higher than the vehicle's top speed.

205/80R16 110S tyres would be the same as 205R16C 110/108 S
