Was the clutch showing any signs of slipping before it failed, what exactly happened?

Just had a new clutch fitted 3 weeks ago and it has gone, burnt out. Have done 40,000 miles prior to having the clutch changed.. Garage trying to say it is down to driving. Done 600 miles since fitted. Have been driving for 40 years. Any comments or advice would be appreciated.

The garage are trying it on. If you'd come back a year later maybe they would be justified in saying that, but after 3 weeks it's absolutely ridiculous.

If it really is burnt out, it must have been fitted incorrectly. Otherwise, it's something else lik e oil leaking onto clutch plate.

Whichever the cause is, I would insist the clutch is taken off and the problem properly diagnosed, and ideally the clutch changed with another fully warranted item.
