The list price of the car I ordered is now over £40,000, will I have to pay the premium rate?
I ordered a VW Tiguan Allspace in February 2022, I kept the list price with options below £40k to avoid the high car tax surcharge.
The car is still on order but the new list price is now above £40k. Am I protected with the original list price being below £40k?

Although the list price of your vehicle has changed since you ordered it, what determines whether you pay the premium VED rate is the price you actually pay.
If you have already ordered your car you should have paperwork that states an agreed price, and as long as the list price with options is under £40,000 then there should be no issues. If the dealer is trying to make you pay the latest higher list price we would be having a polite chat with them.
