Hi - I'm having an intermittent issue which I'm hoping I may be able to get some insight into....

Ocacasionally when I start the car the accelerator while depressed does not increase the engine revs, it sits at idle ticking over. I'm able to select all gears and as it is an automatic I am able to move the car at the base level of revs, however I can't drive due to problem. Within a few mins of moving back and forth it seems to correct itself and everything is fine. I am however obviously concerned that at some point it will not correct and would like to address.

I took to my local VW garage who weren't able to advise and were only able to offer a diagnostic check but didn't seem confident that it was something they would find easily if it wasn't happening when they had it. Obviously concerned with potential costs.
