Probably £300-£400 from a Ford Dealer, But unless your car is very high mileage, it is probably not yet needed on a 2007 car, and there is always a risk a fault could be introduced/caused by unecessary work!

I believe the official Ford recommendation is 10 years 100,000 miles.

Hi mjw71, I have the same car (and year) as you. At the last service before I bought the car it was recommended that the cambelt should be changed. This was at 20k miles.

Why is this? Why so soon? Do you have any additional info? How much did it eventually cost you? Cheers.

Paul,

I have two Focuses with less tham 40K on their clocks, and have not had any prompt from Ford on their services that their belts need changing. I'm surprised you were told when it had only covered 20K. Mine are on a 06 and 07 plate. I agree with the 100,000 mile change mentioned.

It used to be, I think, 70K miles on Escorts then the MK1 Focus.

While the belts can last 100k, the plastic tensioners can often fail by 60k. I would personally change at around the 5yr/50k mark.
