Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 crd - Drive train vibration - Country boy

This 2005 car has been great since the new steering rack last year (see previous) now I have a curious intermittent drive train vibration which only occurs when towing a two hourse trailer up a medium hill at about 50 to 60. Very occasionaly it occurs on the flat at about 70 when not towing. It feels like drive shaft/ gearbox but could be engine related.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

I would start by having the wheels balanced properly and I mean properly by someone who is used to big off road wheels not little Jonny at the local tyre shop.

Star Tyres at Chelston have already done that. My suspicion is that the problem is transmission related. The message centre flashes up, for a nano second when the ignition is turned on and before the default dispaly appears, with the words "transmission over temp". This occurs whether the engine is cold 1st thing in the morning or when hot.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you need an auto box specialist. the symptoms are those of the torque convertor om its way out or it maybe one of the clutches either way it appears as though it could be expensive to remedy .Is the vehicle fitted with an oil cooler for the box?
