Hi all

Anyone know what might be causing my partners Fiesta to hang on its revs when depressing the clutch or slowing down to a stop. We have disconnected the speedo sensor which has stopped the problem, although there is not a fault with the actual speedo itself. We have been told this is a common fault with Fiestas and is likely to do with a worn nylon cog in the gear box, which will cost around £800 to get fixed.

The engine management has been checked and given a clean bill of health

Any suggestions please?
