Ford Focus mk2, 1.6L - Replace a broken steering/tie-rod boot - bristolblue1

Hi there, i need to replace a broken tie rod end boot (the big black boot which covers the steering arm from the steering rack to the inner tie rod) (not the cv boot) my question is do i grease the steering arm/steering knuckle and boot? or is the boot just a dust cover so put back together with no grease etc?

Thanks for any help/info

Regards

Steve

I believe that it is just a dust cover, it is on most cars anyway, the steering rack is lubricated internally by the hydraulic fluid, assuming it has power steering, which most cars have. Was there any grease in the old one? I think that is your best guide.
