I have my new XC90.

Details to be given shortly but my insurers think it is a 163bhp whereas it was advertised as a 185bhp. How do use the VIN to check which engine I have or is the insurance info simply wrong?

I would phone a Volvo dealer personally - Hope your enjoying it.

Anything on the V5 ??

BiL was sold a Volvo by a main dealer with a smaller engine than that advertised. Eventually sorted it.

Phone Volvo customer services, they have everything, including details of optional equipment fitted when new.

I bought a V70 once thinking it was a base model, and it turned out to be SE spec, only thanks to Volvo did I get that confirmed.

There are also differences in the colour of the engine cover, although they can be switched...

Details so far on the car as a machine.

Far less pleasant to drive that the Outback! But it has enough turn of speed and 35mpg on the motorway cruise back from Uttoxeter to Manchester. Car was in Grantham and I met them half way.

It has all the toys of an SE plus I think a few other bits. Integral child booster seat, auto wipers, heater electric memory seat, Comms which is very good and the Sat Nav which is dreadfully hard to use. Comfortable and crystal clear instruments and controls like all Volvos.

Condition, about as good as I expected, not quite as good as I hoped, but then it has done 78,000 miles.

Overall after 60 miles driving - happy enough but missing the Outback.

Persist with the Sat Nav, you get used to it, and it does the job well enough without the hassle of plugging/unplugging TomToms and wiping off sucker marks!

Just a quick tip for the D5, check and clean out the plenum mixer chamber. Not sure if it's as bad on this model, but the earlier D5s gunk these up with obvious effects on fuel economy and performance. It's a messy job, but not difficult.

Google for it or search on the Volvo owner's club forum.

Congrats on the new car Espada. I hope you come to like it more in due course. I do know what you mean though. I was given a Qashqai with my new job a few months ago and made what was probably the mistake of keeping my old car as a spare. The Nissan is lovely and has every toy imaginable, but when it comes down to it my old car is still just so much nicer to drive. I've been using it today in fact and have to make a long business trip tomorrow and frankly wish I could take the old faithful instead of the young pretender. We get used to things don't we ?
