03 2.0 Air Con Pump Failed - Woody37
Our once trusty CRV is getting some annoying faults these days.

At 65K the Air Con Pump has disintegrated and of course needs replacing.

A new one is £1,100 ho, ho, ho and recoonditioned £500 + fitting.

I guess plan C. would be a breakers yard.

I would welcome ideas on how and where I can resolve this problem?

Thanks

Is the car still driveable? If so, does aircon really matter given the cost of repair? If not, and the compressor is driven by a serpentine belt along with other ancillaries, could you get an alternative belt to miss out the aircon compressor? If not, sounds like another case for my campaign for idler pulleys as are available in the US! Depends to some extent on how long you intend to keep the car. When mine seized there were no alternatives and the new compressor along with cambelt kit, auxiliary belt, labour, recharging etc. cost me about £1400. I rationalise this by telling myself that the car was 10 years old, in good order, with no previous big bills and another 2 years on no other problems.
