Just wondering whether it is legal to put any advertisement [not like London taxis - more like just a small ad in bumper etc.] on private cars.

Is this legal?

Is there any company who provides such ad and offers some tiny money for that?

I have seen many cars with web adresses on the back, usually for local companies. Lots of people give free advertising space for car dealers stickers. If you own the car or van I cant see it as a problem.

I remember reading some years ago about a scheme which created a lot of interest at the time and if I recall correctly, new cars would be available to lease for free (or minimal cost) but were to be plastered with advertising on all sides. The vehicle costs were obviously to be recouped by the ad revenues raised.

The 'rub' to the driver was that they would have to drive around in a motorised billboard. As a poverty stricken undergraduate at the time, I was willing to compromise my philosophical stance for the chance to drive a car other than my HC Viva which kept breaking down.

Perhaps better the informed on here can fill in the details as to why it never took off.

I remember a guy I worked with getting a job with British Sugar (that dates the story!). A company car came with the job and, while working his notice, one of our colleagues rang him up posing as being from British Sugar. He took the guy through his company car choice and gave him a good line about use of car, insurance and so on. All this was a build up to the sting. "You do realise it will have a large dummy sugar cube on the roof and the company name and logo on the side?". He fell for it :-)

Was the car a sweetner ? (Oh yes and it ran all lumpy !)
