Hello again

Need to replace spark plugs ka with old engine where they usually rust in

Bought AGFS 22CM1 Ford spark plugs are these the ones that rust in ?

Been told to get some Platinium ones instead that will last 30 000mls and advice please

Thankyou

We owned a Ka for 7 years. When it was new I took the plugs out, covered the threads and the seat in copper grease, and put them back. For what it's worth, they never rusted in.

Same experience as Manatee with son's Fiesta.

The original plugs were rusted solid.. Soaked in plus gas and left overnight and they moved OK. Then lots of copperease and no problems in next 4 years..

It's the tapered seats that corrode to the head rather than the threads themselves. Every time I've removed seized plugs from these engines, when you fold the tapered part in on itself and break the rust "seal" with the head, the threaded part will unscrew with no more than gentle hand pressure. It's a tricky and risky job though - prevention is better than cure as per Manatee and madf's posts above.

Just a quick update

The old ford sparkplugs came out without breaking!

There was hardly any rust/corrosion on them

*maybe a leaking rocker cover gasket helped ?*

There was lots of rust/corrosion around the sparkplugs.

Maybe ford have modified the sparkplugs to minimse rusting?

Thankyou all for advice.

ps

The plug gap was not checked do they come correctly gapped ?

Generally, yes. If they're multi electrode plugs, then definitely not as you'll never get the gaps exact and the spark will always travel across the shortest gap.
