Estimating MPG on motorway 1.3, 1.7, 2.0 cdti? - jamiev
Hi, i am due to get a company car soon with the choice of any vauxhall!
i drive 120 mile a day on the motorway and was wondering what would the approx mpg be at 70mph with the following diesel engines, 1.3 ecoflex, 1.7cdti and 2.0 cdti?
would the smaller engine struggle and use more fuel?
anyone have any advice?
thanks

what would the approx mpg be

That would vary, depending on what model Vauxhall you're buying. Something like an Astra (for example) would be heavier than a Corsa, and thus thirstier on fuel.

I would use the combinedmpg figure as guide, all the cars I have earned have achieved something close to this figure when driven on motorway, and overall achieve around 85 to 90% of the combined figure for all types of driving (city, country and motorway)

hi, ok, thanks, so would the corsa have the best mpg rate at 70mph? combined is quoted at 62.8 mpg, even though the engine would be working the hardest?

Looking at the power and weight figures, I would guess the Astra estate would offer the best compromise between power and fuel consumption.
